Word Tip – Quickly Increase/Decrease Font Size
April is here, the sun has been shining and Ireland can feel the tease of summer poking it’s gorgeous head around the corner! Roll on the summer! But the beginning of a new month also means that it is time for a new ‘Keep it Simple‘ tip. Yaaaay!
This month we’re looking at a Word Tip.
You can view the video or follow the (brief) step-by-step shown underneath.
Enjoy and remember: Keep it Simple!
Today we’re looking at Word and we’re going to see how we can quickly increase or decrease the Font size in two ways.
1 – using a keyboard shortcut
2 – using the Ribbon
I’ll start by using a keyboard shortcut.
Step 1 – Increase the Font Size using the Keyboard
- I’ll select a single word in the first paragraph.
- Hold down the CTRL + SHIFT + FULL STOP button (also known a the Period button).
(What you’re accessing is the right facing chevron).
- That increases the Font size!
- Press CTRL + SHIFT + FULL STOP again to increase the Font size again.
Step 2 – Decrease the Font Size using the Keyboard
- Keep that text selected.
- Hold down the CTRL + SHIFT + COMMA button.
(What you’re accessing is the left facing chevron).
- Press it once more to put the text back to the original size.
Isn’t that just sooooo simple!
Now let’s see how it’s done quickly, using the Ribbon.
Step 1 – Increase the Font Size using the Ribbon
- Have the text selected.
- In the Font group of the Home tab, click on the large A button to increase the Font size.
- Keep clicking it – to keep increasing the Font size!
Step 2 – Decrease the Font Size using the Ribbon
- Keep that text selected.
- This time click on the small A button do decrease the Font size.
- Keep clicking it – to keep decreasing the Font size!
How easy was that!
I hope you enjoyed that and I’ll be back again with another useful ‘Keep it Simple‘ tip – next month!
Thanks for that, these simple tips are helpful and I look forward to the next one…
